Hi again, everyone. I would like to please request prayers for mine and my husband's financial situation. We just purchased a home and, for the last month, we have been budgeting our finances based on an estimate received by the bank who is issuing our loan. They told us the estimate was accurate. However, yesterday afternoon, we received a final closing disclosure and saw that our monthly payment is going to be almost $450 more expensive than we were originally told. Apparently, the original estimate we received was incorrect, as it did not account for a sudden spike in property taxes. All parties were completely unaware of this. The deadline to back out of this transaction has long passed; otherwise, we would do so. We are closing on the house this Friday, which I am now dreading.
We're both very scared, as we were basing our finances off of an incorrect estimate this entire time, and it is now too late to withdraw. We're burning through our paychecks thanks to inflation and heavy taxation. My husband is applying for jobs all the time, but every single one has turned him down. He cannot find a job in his current degree field thanks to artificial intelligence, and the pay at his current job is no longer a livable wage thanks to inflation. Any raise he gets is immediately negated by an increase in prices for things like insurance. He has returned to school to help his job chances, but now he is telling me we likely will no longer be able to afford it because of the unexpected increase in our monthly payments for the house. Life at this moment feels like a cruel joke.
We don't know what we're going to do. We're trying so hard to improve our financial situation, and yet it feels like we're getting completely gouged because of sky-high prices for everything. I have been in tears on and off for hours, and I keep repeating the verse, "We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you" (2 Chronicles 20:12). We trust in the Lord and we know He will help us through this, but we can't help but feel like we made a huge mistake with this house. For those reading this, prayers would be appreciated so much. Thank you.
