My son Aiden is going to a Christian college to become a youth pastor and worship leader. He is very discouraged right now because he just found out his favorite voice instructor at college has resigned. This person really understood his voice and personal needs and was willing to work with him in a way other instructors are not willing to. Others are focusing only classical music vs worship songs, they are sung differently. He was really looking forward to going back this fall to this instructor to continue the work they had been doing together. Especially because this summer his voice took a toll while traveling across the country to answer a call to go work with youth at a church camp. He’s struggling to sing now, couldn’t lead worship at the camp like he really wanted to (still played guitar though). He’s very worried his voice won’t go back to normal and was eagerly waiting to work with this instructor again. Now he’s feeling lost and wondering if he should stay at this college or look into going elsewhere. He has a great financial opportunity at his current college but still going into huge debt to obtain this degree tgat he felt the Lord call him in. He has been hired to be in a peer spiritual leadership position this year that he is really looking forward to. He has lots of amazing Christian friends there, is close to home, and is growing closer to God. But the area he was most excited about learning and growing in will not be meeting his needs the way he wants now unless someone with a similar approach takes the place of this instructor. This is a big discouragement and big decision to be contemplating. My son has a heart for the Lord and following His will for his life. He felt called to attend this college for this degree and took a huge leap of faith to attend his first year, and now going into his second. Please pray that the Lord guides my son in what He wants him to do, go where He wants, and give him comfort and assurance that the Lord will provide for all of his needs in every area. Please also pray that his voice returns so that he can lead worship and sing to the Lord confidently again, it’s truly his passion. I understand his worry because he saw what happened to me- I used to lead worship too but lost my voice due to thyroid cancer. It’s been absolutely heartbreaking for me to lose my ability to sing and I don’t want him to experience that pain. When you connect with God through singing praises it’s very had to have that taken away. Please pray that his voice is restored fully, maybe even better than before. That the Lord blesses my son for being so willing to follow Him to college and across the country to camp. Thank you for lifting him up.
