Almighty God,
You alone are the One true God, and we humbly come before You, seeking to make You the sole focus of our worship and devotion. We desire that You be the only God we serve, the one we honor with all our hearts, minds, and strength. May we be set apart as Your holy and perfect possession, chosen and redeemed for Your glory.
Lord, we ask that You be our eternal Refuge and Dwelling Place, our constant source of strength and peace. In You alone, we find our safety and rest. You are our Rock, our Shelter, and our Everlasting Haven.
We pray that this prayer, and all that we do, would flow only from Your will and command. May our hearts be aligned with Your purpose, and may we live as Your faithful servants, wholly committed to You.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.

I want to share a word of praise with you all. My father-in-law, who was a very lukewarm Christian for a number of years, had a conversation with my husband and I one evening around a campfire about what it means to be a Christian. We talked about the Christian faith, dispelled false ideas about other religions leading to God, and talked about the importance of reading the Bible to understand why Christianity is the only way to God.
Shortly after that camping trip, my father-in-law asked my husband and I to purchase a Bible for him, because he was having issues understanding his current translation. We bought him a Bible and he started reading in the book of Genesis. However, he was having issues progressing through the Bible because, as a first-time Bible-reader, he was getting caught up on the Mosaic laws. My husband suggested he start in the New Testament instead before reading the Old Testament, so he could better understand who Jesus was and how His ministry, death, and resurrection not only explains the basis of the Christian faith, but also helps the reader better understand the information in the Old Testament.
My father-in-law agreed and started reading the book of Matthew. The next day, this past Sunday, we met with my husband's family for brunch. After we ate, my father-in-law started talking to my husband and I about his experience in reading the book of Matthew. He said he was having more success so far with the reading New Testament first, and he said the information there basically confirmed what he always knew about Christianity and what it means to be a Christian. It was like everything started to click.
He also went on about the importance of the Bible and how, after years of searching for peace, he finally started to truly feel at peace because the information in the Bible was touching his soul. Lastly, he expressed that he felt the Lord spared him from a heart attack he had several months ago, because He wanted my father-in-law to have a second chance to read and understand the Word of God. Almost the entire time he was explaining this, he was crying tears of pure joy. His demeanor, even one day apart, was completely different. Our prayers were answered and, as my husband put it, he finally found Jesus after years of searching.
Even better, my father-in-law said he wanted to raise my little sister-in-law, who is only 15, in a more biblical home by reading the Bible together. She agreed. A second prayer was answered, as the Bible we bought her for Christmas two years ago will finally be used. What makes this moment even better is that, when we bought her that Bible, that was the time when my father-in-law's girlfriend and her two daughters were living with them out of wedlock (which they no longer do). What a remarkable difference two years later.
Praise the Lord! He is faithful, just, and immeasurably good. What He did for my father- and sister-in-law is more than words can express. Praise the Lord!

My son just went back to finish his 3rd year at school and this goodbye was especially painful.
His depression is back and his roommate dropped out so he lives alone.
I pray for him to make a few good Christian friends, and that God would bless him with peace, joy and purpose.

Please pray for my family. My mom recently took a sabbatical to get her heart right with the Lord so she wouldn't react so angrily to my aunt who is an alcoholic and, therefore, is rude and inconsiderate of my mom and others in the family. My aunt is causing a lot of problems. The sabbatical ended, but the whole thing hurt my granddad, who thinks my mom was simply running from her problems and wasn't doing the right thing. My mom says she feels the Lord led her to take this sabbatical, but my granddad did not agree with her.
Even though the sabbatical is over and my mom's heart has greatly improved, my granddad's heart has hardened. He is freezing out my mom and told her he no longer wishes to resume our once-weekly lunches on Sunday afternoons after church. Not to mention, I watched as he and my aunt were quietly mocking my mom on Christmas day--that or my granddad joined in to placate my aunt--in my mom's and dad's house, eating their food. He says he is not playing favorites, but it is clear he has sided with my aunt and has basically pushed aside his only daughter who has an active relationship with the Lord.
This is having a ripple effect on my ability to attend church. My parents attend a church of their own, and my granddad is the pastor at the church my husband and I attend (a rift created years ago when my granddad publicly reprimanded my mom in front of the entire church and told her the worship music she felt the Lord led her to choose was "noise"). Now, I no longer wish to attend church where my granddad pastors because he frequently--without giving names--uses my mom as an example of a bad Christian and talks about showing others agape love, which he clearly does not show my mom. His behavior is interfering with my ability to absorb the information he teaches.
My mom is deeply hurt because my grandma is gone, one aunt called her a dark force and the reason our family is so broken, the other aunt said her sabbatical was satanic, and, now, my granddad is freezing her out and uses her as an example of a bad Christian in church. Please pray for this situation. Thank you.
