Prophecy Watch

Prophecy WatchWe are to watch and pray for the Lord’s return. We will help you do so by keeping our eyes on the signs of the times and reporting them to you. Jesus chastised the Pharisees for not knowing the signs of the times in His day. So He wants to us know the signs today, for they instill in us hope for the future and encourage us to evangelize the lost while there is still time.

Signs of the Blood Moons

History is littered with the dead bones of prophecies and predictions that failed the test of time.

In recent times it is likely you will have been aware of The Jupiter Effect, Michael Drosnin's Bible Code, the Quatrains of Nostradamus, Y2K and more recently the December 21st 2012 predictions.

So what makes the four blood moons prophecy different to all that we have seen before? Is this another prophecy tragedy or could this celestial event be the most incredible sign of the times?

Enough, Already

Why are we giving ammunition to the scoffing critics in the church?

We live in a time when the leading periodical for young evangelicals, Relevant magazine, is anti-Israel and a mocker of classic Bible prophecy teaching.

We live in a time in which leading apologists and apologetics ministries wholly ignore the specialness of the Jews and Bible prophecy

We live in a time when the giants of Bible prophecy teaching have passed or are passing from the scene, and frankly, the dearth of up-and-coming teachers willing to step up is alarming.

We live in a time in which Bible prophecy teaching is marginalized more from ministry leaders and clergy than at any time in our nation’s history.

So what is much of the Bible prophecy community doing?

Engaging in fringe and embarrassing topics. Giving ammunition to the scoffing, laughing critics within the Church.

Do you need something to look forward to?

I know I sure do! The world's a mess, wouldn't you agree? And, it's getting messier. Every day we're assaulted by the news of some terrible injustice, war, disorder, disaster and depravity. The nations are in total rebellion against God, and Christians are drastically becoming the minority voice. It's all so tiring.

When it seems life is horrible, there is one thing in particular that I look forward to. What is it? It's the coming Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

Egypt and the End Times

In January and February of 2011 we posted three blogs about the Arab Spring in Egypt, what the Bible says about Egypt’s future, and a warning about the Muslim Brotherhood. At that time former Egyptian President Mubarak was deposed by the people who wanted a democratic government. Unfortunately the only group that appeared to be capable of establishing a new government was the Muslim Brotherhood.

Can Prophecy Be Saved?

Most young believers no longer uphold Bible prophecy and eschatology as key components of the faith, opting to focus more on feeding the poor and ending human trafficking. But where does that leave Bible prophecy and teaching in today’s church?

Jesus plainly said: “In this world you will have trouble” (John 16:33). So, to begin this topic, we first know that there is no such reliable thing as bliss on earth. We cannot change this by living in denial. The fact of the matter is that Christians must expect that they “will have trouble” in this world. This means that many developments on earth, whether prophesied in the Bible or not, will be far from blissful. But isn’t this perspective a pessimistic one?

Rise of the One World Religion

And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, and deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live” (Revelation 13:12-14).

I have at other times written about the history of the Catholic Church, mainly the Roman Catholic Church, but with current developments and the election of a surprise candidate called Pope Francis, I feel I need to readdress this “religion” once again based on these new developments. In my last previous article about the last pope, I marveled at how this man just doesn’t seem to fit the preconceived notions floating in my head and those spoken about of. But new developments and details have been brought to light, and we need to look at this man a little closer.

The Rapture – Answering the Critics

This generation is full of scoffers, mocking the prophesied return of Jesus Christ to Planet Earth. This is as the great Apostle Peter foretold it would be at the end of the age of grace (Church Age): “Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation” (2 Pet. 3:3-4).

Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for not recognizing the signs of His first coming. The religious leaders of His day had full knowledge of the prophecies of the Messiah, yet these religious leaders ignored the signs and still rejected Him. Being a meteorologist, forecasting the weather and discerning the signs of the times go hand in hand for me. Unlike the religious leaders of the first century, I refuse to ignore the signs of the Lord's return!

What are the signs of the Lord's return? How do these signs show us that the Lord's return is soon? Jesus refers to these signs as "birth pangs." In the "Olivet Discourse" study, I discuss in detail what "birth pangs" are. Here are the "birth pangs" Jesus told us to watch for:

Few Biblical studies are as exciting as an examination of the Jews in prophecy, for the Jews are one of the key focal points of Bible prophecy.

The Scriptures reveal the Jews as "the apple of God's eye" (Zechariah 2:8). Their land is described as "holy" (Zechariah 2:12). Their city of Jerusalem is termed the "center of the nations" (Ezekiel 5:5). They are pictured as the wayward wife of God (see Ezekiel 16 and the book of Hosea). And the Bible makes it clear that they will be the object of both God's wrath (Jeremiah 30:7) and His grace (Zechariah 13:1) in the end times.
