Israel’s Peculiar Position

The article below was written 43 years ago. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

The Jews are a peculiar people: things permitted to other nations are forbidden to the Jews.  Other nations drive out thousands, even millions of people and there is no refugee problem.

Word of her depressed emotional state reached Fatah recruiters for homicide bombers in the Gaza Strip. When they became aware of her mental state, members of the Fatah-controlled el-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade pounced. “They hunted me down like prey,” she recalled.

Al-Biss gave her Israeli interrogators a chilling account of the cynical tactics used by her terrorist mentor,  “Abul Khair,” from the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade.  “Abul Khair kept calling,” she said. “He told me a guy they were counting on had backed out of an operation; they needed me. ‘Look at your future,’ they told me. ‘No one will ever marry you.’”

Abbas: Adamant Rejectionist

Increasingly, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas appears to be the negotiator of choice for the West simply because officials see no option. Israelis are increasingly beginning to question this default option after three years of Abbas refusing to enter negotiations with Israel and a lifetime of rejectionism.

Would Jesus support a Palestinian state?

The gist of Carl's argument, and one I suspect is shared by many American evangelicals, is that Christians should discard the Bible, discard their eschatology and support a Palestinian state simply because it is the right thing to do. Carl warns against, "allowing obscure Old Testament promises to dictate our foreign policy." Instead we should simply focus on, "love, compassion, justice and peace-making."

The glaring problem with Carl's argument is that it assumes that those "obscure Old Testament promises" are in conflict with the principles of "love, compassion and justice." Carl could not be more wrong. Not only does Carl's position require him to discard numerous very clear passages from the Bible (would Jesus reject these sections of the Bible?), but it also runs rough shod over the principles of love, justice and compassion.

It’s eminently fitting the woman the Palestinian Authority chose to formally launch its statehood bid is a proud mother of five murderers, of whom one is now dead while the other four are serving life sentences in Israel. After all, a woman who teaches her sons to kill Israelis even at the expense of their own welfare is the perfect emblem of a Palestinian state dedicated to destroying Israel even at the expense of its people’s welfare. And if that accusation seems far-fetched, just consider the shocking interview the PLO’s ambassador to Lebanon, Abdullah Abdullah, gave the Lebanese Daily Star last week:

The Soros Plot to Topple Netanyahu

In late February, the Israeli Knesset passed the NGO Funding Transparency Bill by 40 to 34. It had been a long journey for the bill,  which despite, its neutered, state was still a declaration of war by the conservative Likud Party against the shadow NGO empire that was the Soros way.

While the bill was no longer able to empower the lifting of tax exempt status for foreign funded NGOs and it only addressed foreign funding of NGOs by government entities, it was a major step for foreign funding transparency. The Soros empire had been built on non-transparency, on hidden donor lists and front groups funded by think tanks with money pipelined in grants through a dozen different organizations.

Israel offered to provide asylum to deposed Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak, a leading Israeli lawmaker revealed on Wednesday, the day Mubarak went on trial for corruption and murder.

Over the past few years evidence has been trickling out that perhaps the Palestinians are not really all that impoverished, and only continue to receive so much foreign aid in order to paint Israel as an oppressor.

The evidence has built to the point that the mainstream media - the vehicle through which Israel is so often criticized - can no longer ignore it.

Christians Against Israel

The World Council of Churches recently sponsored a debate on the situation of Christians in the Middle East that went unnoticed by most, but which provided another huge red flag in regards to the direction the Church is going as it relates to Israel and the Jews.

Meeting in Volos, Greece, a collection of 30 theologians, social scientists, politicians and church representatives labored for five days to decisively identify the reason for shrinking Christian communities across the Middle East.

How not to have a Palestinian state

The unilateral declaration of a Palestinian state, and its international recognition, would be a huge mistake.

A peace agreement between Israelis and Palestinians is essential, but can be achieved only through honest negotiations – not by one party imposing a unilateral decision.

Over the past two years, the Palestinian Authority has refused to sit at the negotiating table with the Israeli government, hiding behind the excuse of construction work on a few West Bank settlements. At the same time, it has been negotiating the creation of a national unity government with Hamas – a terrorist group whose stated aim is the elimination of Israel. A Palestinian “government” of a unilaterally established, self-declared “Palestinian state” in which Hamas is a member will make negotiations, to say nothing of a peace agreement, impossible.
