Anti-Semitisim

Anti-SemitismKings, pharaohs, generals, fuehrers, Moslem extremists, and more have tried to exterminate the Jews for millennia. The Bible predicts the persecution of both Jews and Christians in many Scriptural references, with an intensification in the “end-times.” The Arab world fans the flames of anti-Semitism, as well as much of Europe and even Canada.

It has become more obvious in America with the push for a Palestinian state. Many, though certainly not all, who are pushing in America for a Palestinian state, and particularly on U.S. campuses, have anti-Semitic sentiment.

The Anti-Semites of Occupy Wall Street

There is a disturbing undercurrent to the current Occupy Wall Street movement.  It isn’t merely its passionate denunciations of capitalism and excuses for corporatism.  It isn’t merely its perverse love for a president who has received more Wall Street money than any candidate in American history, and its hatred for Wall Street itself.

It’s anti-Semitism.

As if any further proof was necessary, Canada stepped forward once again and showed the world that it is Israel’s best friend. In taking the field on behalf of the Jewish people this time around, the Conservative government of Prime Minister Stephen Harper became the first country last week to sign the Ottawa Protocol on Combating Anti-Semitism. (For the full text of the protocol click here.)

The Durban Perversion

The United Nations hosted a full-day celebration on September 22nd commemorating the tenth anniversary of one of its greatest embarrassments since its founding: the adoption of the so-called Durban I Declaration and Programme of Action. This Declaration was the final outcome document of the 2001 anti-Semitic, anti-Western hatefest known formally as the UN World Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance. It singled out the Palestinians as the victims of alleged Israeli racism. And the Holocaust deniers who were running Durban I refused to include any reference to the twentieth century’s most vile example of racism, genocide and crimes against humanity.

Why the Jews?

Why the Jews?

Short answer: The Jews gave the world the Ten Commandments , and the world has never forgiven them.

Long answer: Many Jew-haters through the ages have tried to blame the Jews for Jew-hatred, asserting for example that the Jews are rich and therefore spark envy (while ignoring the obvious fact that many others are as rich or richer), the Jews are poor and dirty (ignoring that many others are as poor or poorer, as dirty or dirtier), the Jews are clannish (but failing to note that one man’s “clannish” is another man’s “ethnic loyalty”), the Jews are boastful (but one man’s “boastful” is another man’s “well-earned self-esteem”), etc. Obviously, none of the above, or various other accusations of similar ilk, offers a rational answer to the question of why Jew-hatred is the oldest, most ubiquitous, and most virulent social pathology.

An original diatribe against the Jews written by Adolph Hitler himself is due to be unveiled at New York's Simon Wiesenthal Center in July. The Gemlich letter, named for the man to whom it was sent in 1919, is considered Hitler's first known anti-Semitic writing. The document's revelation comes at a time when anti-Semitism is once again sliding through Europe, hissing in ways that are hardly harmless.

On April 19, the Corfu synagogue, in Greece, was burned. How many Jews live in Corfu today? One hundred and fifty. How many Jews live in Greece? Eight thousand, or about 0.8% of the population. For some, it seems these figures are still far too high. Two other synagogues were burned in Greece during the past year. Anti-Semitic graffiti on the walls are spreading all over the country.

What happened in Greece is happening everywhere across the European continent.

German scholar Matthias Küntzel points to a pernicious cancer in the Muslim world that continues to be ignored....

The revolutions in the Arab world that began earlier this year were noticeably low on anti-Jewish propaganda, leading many scholars to express the hope that the West had less to lose from the overthrow of men like Hosni Mubarak than previously thought. But if German scholar Matthias Küntzel is correct, one incident should adjust the expectations that the Muslim Brotherhood—who expect to perform well in Egypt’s upcoming parliamentary elections—can be a moderating force in Egyptian politics.

That one incident was the return and reception of Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the leading Brotherhood theologian who has praised Hitler and endorsed the Islamic acceptance of terrorism against Israel.

A murderous anti-Semitic theme appeared on Facebook Sunday, when a user named “Alex Cookson” launched an open invitation to an “event” called “Kill a Jew Day.”

The page on the popular social networking Web site urged users to violence “anywhere you see a Jew” between July 4 and July 22. A large image of a swastika was placed at the top of the page. Under the heading “description,” Cookson wrote, “You know the drill guys.”

Germany: Exploding Anti-Semitism

If we take Germany, and look at the excellent indicator of the web network, we can see that neo-Nazi websites have increased from 800 last year to 1872 this year, and it is not over yet. One fifteen-year-old out of every 20 belongs to a neo-Nazi group. The German neo-Nazi messages that are broadcast to children and young rock music fans, and that are based on hatred for the Jews have increased on the relevant websites from 750 to 6000. One also has to pay close attention to what his children read on Facebook or hear on Youtube.
