"We will not obey."
That's the blunt warning a group of prominent religious leaders is sending to the Supreme Court of the United States as they consider same-sex marriage.
"We respectfully warn the Supreme Court not to cross that line," read a document titled, Pledge in Solidarity to Defend Marriage. "We stand united together in defense of marriage. Make no mistake about our resolve."
Most of us can see the writing on the wall: our nation will either return to God and He will heal our land, or we will do nothing and remain on the present path to destruction. It depends on the course individual Christians choose. Sadly, too many profess to believe, but fail to live according to the Bible. Only the Lord knows if they were truly saved in the first place.
I have never seen so much moral and spiritual confusion even among Christians. If we are not established in the Word of God and a preserving influence on culture, how can we expect it to improve? Proverbs 14:34 states,
"Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people."
The outspoken son of famed televangelist Billy Graham has lashed out at President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder for "jamming" an amoral agenda "down the throats of the America people."
The Rev. Franklin Graham, 62, who heads both the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and the global charity, Samaritan's Purse, took to Facebook Monday with his criticism, warning that when a nation founded on "biblical laws and principles" turns "its back on God, the "end is near."
Alexis De Tocqueville famously noted, "There is no country in the world where the Christian religion retains a greater influence over the souls of men than in America, and ... its influence is powerfully felt over the most enlightened and free nation of the earth." Having committed his administration to "fundamental change," President Obama marches to the beat of a different drum. Whatever we once were" [i.e., the "most enlightened and free nation"], Obama opined, "We are no longer a Christian nation–at least, not just. We are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, and a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers," June 28, 2006 (as delivered).
America will not survive under these conditions . . .
The president of the Billy Graham Evangelist Association admonished believers in America for standing by while godless, democratically appointed government officials rip the Christian foundation of the country out from under them.
"Our country has changed, and we've got to take a stand," Graham exhorted the Oklahoma City crowd, according to The Christian Post. "We live in a secular society led by people that call themselves progressives. Secularists ... have taken control of our country. And we have just sat back and it's happened. And we haven't even realized it's happened."
Back in early 2008, I got busy — determined to find out everything I could about Obama. I read things that alarmed me. The more I read, the more questions I had, and the more alarmed I became.
I first saw this man when he was the keynote speaker at the Democratic National Convention in 2004. I had never before heard my sons talk about politics until that night. It was like a spell was cast over them. They talked about the articulate and "mind blowing" guy they heard speak at the DNC. My stomach turned and my heart sunk to think that my boys were being sucked into liberalism. Why did that happen? It happened because BHO had been groomed and primed for that night; his coming out of sorts, who was to become the darling of the youth.
If America enters into the final seven years, one has to take into account the numerous scriptures that speak to a final, one world system headed by a man known as "The Anti-Christ". If the United States were a last day's player, what role would she take? Would she be leading the one-world system, or would she just be minor player in it. Instead of me projecting my own opinion about the subject, let's just look at what Scripture has to say on it. So let's start at the beginning:
But with all due respect, the President is wrong. When a nation murders 57 million innocent babies, the state of the union is not strong. When a nation overtaxes and overregulates and over burdens the economy and drives manufacturers and other businesses overseas and leaves 92 million Americans out of the labor force with no jobs and few prospects to get a good-paying job, the state of the union is not strong. When a nation heaps $18 trillion of national debt on the backs of our children and grandchildren, and keeps creating more and more national debt with no end in sight, the state of the union is not strong.
President Obama's state of the union address was loaded with sweet delights meant to bedazzle America's long-suffering middle class as he signaled economic prosperity for all is waiting just around the corner.
But the author of a New York Times-best-selling book about America's future in a post-Christian society was not impressed.
He sees dark storm clouds closing in on Obama's rays of sunshine, citing "harbingers" that the country is sliding headlong toward a collapse – with blindfolds securely fastened.
In his farewell speech, Republican Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn left his fellow United States Senators with a solemn tear-filled warning that the continued existence of America as a republic is in grave danger.
A Closer LookAlluding to President Barack Obama's persistent trend of avoiding the system of checks and balances via executive orders and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's (D-Nev.) fairly recent act of "tyranny" by deciding other senators' rights, Coburn alerted dozens of his colleagues in the Senate that America's failure to stick to the Constitution and the founding father's intent will only result in the U.S. repeating history by becoming just another failed republic.
